What is Osseointegration?

Osseointegration is defined as the direct structural and functional connection between the living bone and surface of an implant. The ability of an implant to bond with the surrounding host bone is another fundamental requirement for permanent implants. Insufficient osseointegration can lead to the formation of fibrous tissues and ensuing loosening of the implant.
